Rosa's Thai Tooting

Tucked right in the heart of Tooting Broadway, Rosa's Thai Tooting brings Bangkok’s vibrant street food flair to the streets of South London. Located at 70 Tooting High St, this buzzing Thai café blends the warmth of a family-run eatery with the energy of a modern-day Thai kitchen. Whether you're stopping by for a quick lunch or planning a flavour-packed dinner, this spot consistently draws in a diverse crowd-from locals in search of comfort food to curious foodies exploring Southeast Asian flavors.

One of the first things you’ll notice when stepping into Rosa’s is the informal, no-fuss charm. The interiors channel a rustic café style, with warm lighting, simple décor, and an open, welcoming vibe that makes you feel instantly at home. And accessibility hasn’t been overlooked either-with a wheelchair-accessible entrance and seating, the venue caters to most, though note there’s no dedicated car park or accessible toilet available.

Now, let’s talk food-because that’s where Rosa’s really shines. Their Pad Thai is a star on the menu and for good reason. Stir-fried with tamarind sauce, crunchy peanuts, and a squeeze of lime, it balances sweet, sour, and savory in a way that’s completely addictive. For those who enjoy a bit of heat, the Green Curry and Red Curry bring in authentic Thai spiciness, loaded with fragrant herbs and creamy coconut milk. The curries pair perfectly with roti bread or a side of jasmine rice, offering that ideal comfort factor.

If you’re just starting out your Thai food journey, the Classic Starters Platter is a go-to. It features a crowd-pleasing mix of Homemade Spring Rolls, Chicken Satay, Sweetcorn Fritters, and Thai Calamari-each item fried or grilled to crispy perfection and served with tangy dipping sauces. The Prawn Crackers arrive warm and crunchy, while the Chicken Wings-marinated Thai-style-are bold, zesty, and hard to put down.

Fans of something more substantial should look to the Massaman Beef Curry, a slow-cooked, tender dish laced with star anise, cinnamon, and potatoes, all soaked in a rich, nutty sauce. For a lighter bite, the Chicken Rice or Chicken Katsu hits that satisfying middle ground-crispy textures with comforting flavors. And don’t skip dessert-the Mango Sticky Rice is a must-have finale, with sweet coconut-infused rice nestled beside fresh, juicy mango slices.

On the drinks side, Rosa’s doesn’t disappoint. Their great tea selection includes Thai iced tea, which is creamy, cold, and fragrant-a total thirst quencher. If you're in the mood for something stronger, the venue also serves beer, wine, and cocktails, with options to complement every meal. Plus, for halal diners, Rosa’s offers a thoughtful selection of halal-friendly options, making it a welcoming space for all dietary preferences.

The restaurant also caters to modern dining habits. Whether you’re dining solo, planning a casual night out, or ordering in, Rosa’s has options. They offer dine-in, takeaway, delivery, and no-contact delivery, ensuring flexibility without compromising on quality. Even during late hours, Rosa’s continues to draw in the night owls with their late-night food menu, which includes quick bites, vegan dishes, and small plates that are perfect for sharing-or hoarding, no judgment here.

Rosa’s Thai Tooting strikes that rare balance between authenticity and accessibility. It’s the kind of place where dishes feel thoughtfully crafted rather than mass-produced. The team behind the counter genuinely seems to care about what they’re serving, and it shows-from the consistency of the flavors to the speed of service. While it may not be the fanciest Thai restaurant in London, it’s exactly what a neighborhood gem should be: honest, inviting, and reliably delicious.

Reliably good Thai food in a cosy space. We ordered our favourites - stir fried morning glory, pad krapao, massaman, chicken satay, etc. All the dishes had really good flavours and felt very authentic, which is impressive given it's a national chain restaurant. Prices are fairly high but that's pretty typical of Thai food in London. The service was a little slow but they were very busy. Would definitely come back.
